LONGFELLOW, Henry Wadsworth  THE POETICAL WORKS OF HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW Boston Houghton, Osgood and Company 1879 Hard Cover Two volumes, large quarto, full black morroco, elaborate gilt decoration in six compartments and at all boards (three-line rule at borders), gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, portrait fronts (tissue guard present), xvi + 496pp., xvi + 500-928pp., top edges gilt, remainder untrimmed, profusely illustrated with engravings. Hinges starting at volume II (but a long way from becoming detached), some rubbing at corners, though with little loss; some internal damp, chiefly affecting margins towards end of volume I, but staining not too heavy; foxing light and quite inextensive, and some light soiling at bindings; Neat matching inscriptions at first blanks. Very heavy, and a reasonably good set. Price: 150.00 GBP
